The Facts about Wood Paneling

New England Classic wood paneling can be used as decorative wall coverings practically anywhere in your home.  It adds a decorative element to offices, workshops, recreation rooms, breezeways, porches, basements, attics and even man caves.  It is thought that wood paneling was originally developed to make rooms more comfortable, in that the wood panels served to insulate the interior from the cold rock walls of ancient buildings.  Eventually, wood paneling became used for more decorative purposes and today is used from floor to ceiling.  Some apply it as wainscoting, which typically covers the bottom one third of a wall.  For the last several years, taller wainscoting covering up to two-thirds of a wall has become a common practice.  Wainscoting is typically capped on top with a simple or ornate wood trim strip, with what has become known as a chair rail.

Our wood paneling is available in a variety of thicknesses to accommodate your varying needs.  We have a multitude of wood and decorative pattern finishes from which to choose.  These range from a host of rustic and weathered wood motifs, to nature and hunting scenes, and contemporary and modern paneling.  Our more modern wood paneling is offered with random groove, beadboard patterns, or no grooves at all. 

Beadboard is a milled panel with routed parallel grooves. Historically, beadboard was assembled with tongue and groove planks, but for quicker installation and cost effectiveness, it is now also available in large wood sheets or cellular PVC. It has a charming appearance reminiscent of farmhouses and cottages. It is used on walls for wainscoting and also for cabinets, ceilings and furniture.
