The Classic Modern wood wall surfacing system is a dream come true for architects and designers who embrace the principles and standards embodied in the work of industry legends such as Alvar Aalto, Louis Kahn, Walter Gropius, Greene & Greene, and Frank Lloyd Wright. In fact, Wright's use of flat, rectangular veneered wood panels and his attention to grain detail are at the very heart of the concept for this system.
For the first time, an endlessly flexible system of panel, stile, and rail components can be combined to form a strikingly modulating planar wall surface producing a dramatic sense of light and shadow.
The modularity of the system allows freedom to combine components to emphasize the natural linearity of wood, in either the horizontal or vertical, to create unique and diverse wall surface designs that reinforce the overall intent of your project. The size and proportion of each component give each design configuration, whether large or small, an intimate human scale.
Classic Modern components use a system of interlocking dado joinery to facilitate efficient and precise installation, even over walls that are not completely flat. Panel edges are precision machined to achieve a 1/8" shadow reveal between rail, stile and panel, giving the system a distinctive third dimension, creating a dynamic visual balance between continuous and metered surface registration.View general installation instructions for our Classic Modern paneling.
The Classic Modern system is available in maple veneer. Custom veneers are available upon request. Each veneer will exhibit individual features and character marks, like any wood veneer product. Veneers can be stained upon submission of a sample to be matched.
Our veneer is standard flat-cut, book-matched and color balanced to emphasize the natural grain patterns. Quarter-cut and book-matched veneer is also available. The result is a wood composite system that saves trees and preserves this cherished natural resource.
