Totally Transform a Room with Planking

Posted

PlankingAre you looking to rejuvenate your home before the holidays.  New England Classic offers beautiful planking in several real wood options and finishes. If you do not already have an idea of what you want to do in your home to spruce it up, here are some ideas!

Run planking around a room horizontally to add rough around the edges personality to your plain spaces. Attach tongue and groove planks to the wall, then cap them with a wide baseboard at the bottom and another piece on top.  For a completely custom look, order our planking unfinished.  For a unique color wash, dilute one part latex paint with two parts water (use a couple shades darker paint than the wall color) and brush it onto the wood, letting the grain show through. Then seal the paneling with matte polyurethane. This creates a gorgeous look for your home.

Another idea is to apply wood planking to basic drywall to lend rich depth to your dining or living room. Get creative with the size and shape of the pieces, and choose veneer that complements your furnishings for a light, natural feel.

For a totally different idea, think ceilings.  Apply our planking to your ceiling to give your room a different feel.  This idea looks amazing in a den or rec room.  Planked ceiling beams lend old world charm to any room. Try them in your common areas as conversation starters.

Suspended ceilings are great for adding a finished look. They cover ductwork, electrical components, and bare joists from the floor above. But they can lower the ceiling height by about a foot. If you don't want to lose this height, consider using furring strips to drop the ceiling only enough to hide everything but the ductwork. Then install tongue and groove planking to finish the ceiling.
