French - The Fontaine #112 - Louis XIV Marble Mantel

The Fontaine Marble Mantel, Circa 1770. English George III design in the style of Robert Adam (1728-1792) with a center tablet of delicate florals and corner blockings of acanthus leaves. Contains what became known as Fontaine Design elements, as well. The Ionic-Scamozzi scrolling capitals are supported by slightly tapered legs supported by solid plinths. The Robert Adam ideal of harmony is achieved magnificently in this mantel.
